Healthy and Fun Desserts that the Kids Can Help Make!

Dessert-Everyone Wants It, so EAT it!
Here are my top favorite desserts that are healthy, EASY, and fun to make!

Also, these are a great way to get kids and teens who love to cook involved.  Even inexperienced bakers can handle them with ease!

1.             Ms.Skinny Berry Parfait
2.             Nutella Cookies-1 cup nutella, 1whole egg, 1 cup flour.  Bake for 6-8 minutes @ 350 degrees.
3.             Ice Cream Cone Cakes -these are great for kids, and they are perfectly portioned out.
4.             Cookie Dough Dip-Hand up if you like to eat the cookie dough a little more than the cookies themselves...? Ok me TOO! Here is your recipe then!!
5.             Blueberry Cookies-these are really soft, and can work as a snack or dessert
6.             Mini Nutella Cookie Cups-these are small (so try not to pop too many into your mouth inadvertently)
7.             PB/Chocolate Protein Balls-yes they are protein bites, but no one needs to know that, especially not the kids.  They taste great!
8.             Dried Strawberry Chewy Candy-strange sounding right? Just bake strawberries at 210 degrees for 3 hours and they will come out as a chewy candy. They taste better than licorice!
9.             Instead of doing a caramel or chocolate dipped apple, cut the apple into slices and then dip the slices in the caramel and chocolate and dress them up.  Tastes delish, less messy, and you won't need the whole apple anyway.
10.         This isn't one recipe it is multiple...but as a college student it is my favorite! Baking single serving desserts in a mug.

                                            Peanut Butter Pizookie
4 tablespoons all purpose flour
4 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 egg
3 tablespoons Peanut Butter
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Combine all ingredients in an oversized coffee mug.  Whisk well with a small whisk until smooth.  Microwave on high for 1/5 minutes and then check to see if it is done.  If not, continue in microwave for 30 second intervals.

Chocolate Chip Cookie
1 tbsp butter, melted
1 tbsp white sugar
1 tbsp brown sugar
3 drops of vanilla
pinch of salt
1 egg yolk
1/4 cup of flour
2 tbsp chocolate chips
Mix together (in a small bowl) the butter sugars, vanilla and egg yolk add the flour and salt, then the chocolate chips.  Put the dough in a mug, or other small microwavable bowl.  Microwave for 40-60 seconds or until cookie is done.

Brownie
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp water
1/4 tbsp vanilla
dash of salt
2 tbsp cocoa
4 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp flour
In a 12 oz mug, add water, oil and vanilla.  Whisk well.  Add cocoa, sugar and flour.  Mix together.  Microwave for 60-90 seconds.  Center should be slightly molten.

 Something to keep in mind...
You can reduce a lot
of your oils, or "fatty"
ingredients with
Greek Yogurt, or
apple sauce

Until next time, stay balanced!
